What is convly?
convly is an interoperability solution that connects messaging platforms such as Slack and Microsoft Teams, allowing users to communicate seamlessly across both environments without switching tools.
In which situations can convly be used?
convly can be used in a variety of scenarios:
- External collaboration: when your company uses Slack while customers, partners, suppliers, or prospects use Microsoft Teams.
- Internal collaboration: when different departments within the same organization use different messaging platforms.
- Mergers and acquisitions: when two merged organizations using Slack and Teams respectively need to collaborate.
Who uses convly?
For external collaboration, convly is commonly used by Customer Success teams, agencies, consultants, SDRs, and BDRs.
For internal collaboration, convly is often adopted by technical teams, although it can be used by any department that needs to communicate across Slack and Teams.

Why is convly not listed in the Slack App Directory?
convly is currently not listed in the Slack App Directory.
Slack has indicated that applications primarily focused on interoperability between Slack and Microsoft Teams are not eligible for listing in the marketplace.
However, convly is built entirely on Slack's official APIs and complies with Slack's security, privacy, and platform requirements.
Setup & Requirements
What are the prerequisites to use convly?
To use convly, you need:
- Slack as your primary messaging platform, where Teams conversations will be managed.
- Permission to install Slack apps, or the ability to request approval from your Slack administrators.
- A Microsoft Teams professional account. Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported.
- Permission to use Teams applications, or the ability to request approval from your Teams administrators.
Is convly free?
Yes. convly offers a free plan for a single user. Paid plans are available for organizations requiring additional seats and advanced features.
Can I test convly before subscribing?
Yes. convly offers a 14-day free trial of its paid plans.
Does convly work with free Slack workspaces?
Yes. convly works with Slack Free workspaces. The only limitation is that user mentions cannot be synchronized due to Slack platform restrictions.
Does convly work with Slack Enterprise Grid / Enterprise+?
Yes. convly supports all Slack paid plans, including Enterprise Grid and Enterprise+.
Does convly work with personal or free Microsoft Teams accounts?
No. convly requires a Microsoft Teams business or enterprise tenant. Microsoft does not provide the required Graph API capabilities for personal Teams accounts.
What is a seat?
A seat corresponds to a slot that a user can occupy to use convly.
Which users require a convly seat?
convly seats are only required for users with active message synchronization across platforms.
Permissions & Security
Which permissions are required to install convly on Slack?
convly follows the principle of least privilege and only requests the minimum permissions required to provide its synchronization capabilities. View the Slack permissions list.

How secure is convly?
Security is a core part of convly's design. convly follows industry best practices to protect customer data and minimize data exposure. Detailed security information is available on our Security page.
How long is data retained?
Data is retained for the duration of the service agreement and can be deleted upon customer request in accordance with applicable regulations.
Where is convly hosted?
convly runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure located in the US East (Ohio) region.

How do I start syncing Teams messages within Slack?
Installing convly takes only two steps: install the convly Slack app, then connect your Microsoft Teams account. Start from the installation page.
Does Slack ↔ Microsoft Teams sync work in both directions?
Yes. convly automatically synchronizes messages between Slack and Teams in both directions without requiring any manual configuration.
What is synced across Slack and Microsoft Teams?
convly supports synchronization across Slack and Teams for DMs, multiple DMs, group chats, Slack channels, rich text content, message edits, message deletions, images, files, profile pictures, threads, replies, reactions, mentions, and users. See more details in the help center.
What is a “hybrid channel” in convly?
A hybrid channel is a Slack channel that is synchronized with Microsoft Teams, allowing users on both platforms to participate in the same conversation.
Can I send and receive Direct Messages (DMs) between Microsoft Teams and Slack?
Yes. convly synchronizes Teams direct messages, including one-to-one and group conversations, with Slack in both directions.
Can I see which Teams users are part of a hybrid channel from Slack?
Yes. convly allows Slack users to easily view the Teams members participating in a hybrid channel.
How many Teams users can be added to a hybrid channel from Slack?
The maximum number of participants in a Microsoft Teams group chat is currently 250 users, as defined by Microsoft. See our help center for additional platform limitations.
